Student Debt... (Page 1/2)

For years, most of my Democrat-leaning friends have told me that in the UK... college education is entirely free. It turns out, this is not only incorrect, it couldn't be farther from the truth. I took it at face value, not bothering to look it up because I assumed that if they were that adamant about this being true, then maybe they're right.

Turns out that it's just like the old lie that says all of Europe pays people a living wage... when in fact I discovered that most countries have a low minimum wage (except for like France, Germany and Netherlands) and some don't even have a minimum wage at all.

Anyway, big shock to me to find out that the UK not only does not provide college and university for free, but in fact the students there actually leave with substantially more college debt / student loans than people in the United States... MORE THAN DOUBLE:

Interesting graph of information.

Student loan relief is just another attempt by Biden to buy more votes. Everyone knows it but, those who want to not pay back the money they borrowed and used that loan will still suck it up.
Transferring student loan debt to the rest of us (including those of us who have already paid back our debt) IMHO just proves a character flaw in those borrowers. Those same character flaws are running rampant in the Biden Administration. This administration has absolutely no concern about how the debt they are incurring will affect future generations.

Until 1998, full-time students in England could attend public universities completely free of charge. Two decades later, most public universities in England now charge £9,250 – equivalent to about $11,380, or 18% more than the average sticker price of a US public four-year institution.

TORY'S THEIR Gop NUT-CONS DID THAT TO THEIR KIDS

Universities were not intended to be job mills. They were for higher learning and very specialized jobs that required said higher learning. Ever since it has gotten into the public mindset that a college education was a ticket to social mobility, the universities have been capitalizing on it.

I don't know what the colleges in the UK are doing. If the loans are subsidized like they are in the US, then it is no wonder the price of a college education has skyrocketed.

Take out a loan, pay it back.

If you want to give students a break, then eliminate the bankruptcy protection on student loans. Then get the government out of the student loan business. It is the federal student loans handing out unlimited cash that both drives up the cost of education and puts these students so deeply in debt. If a student cannot explain how they will repay a $100,000 loan for a gender studies degree then they should not get the loan.

real basic econ 101

debt makes money
with out debts there is very little growth in the money supply
few homes built few new cars ect

your afraid of debts is a death spiral if tried by every one

national debts are the same a thing not evil but needed
try to do without brings depression like the one's the con's caused in 1929 or 2008
