I haven't seen any speculation about motive, but this could be another manifestation of a disturbing trend.
I wonder if this will be called a hate crime. I don't really like the concept of "hate crime", it says more about the justice system than it does about the perpetrator.
Anyway, here is the story: https://www.azfamily.com/20...r-shooting-glendale/

quote | A congregation is in shock after a beloved religious leader was shot in the head while preaching on a Glendale street corner on Wednesday night. In an update on Friday morning, Glendale police say 26-year-old Hans Schmidt, a husband and father of two, remains in critical condition and officers are asking for the public’s help in finding who’s responsible. |

I'm pretty sure the family of Mr Schmidt wouldn't see the hilarity in your comment.
The shooting and comment are both pretty sad in my opinion.

Oh man... it was a just such a cruel comment, wasn't it!
If they were members of this forum (extremely unlikely), they'd know exactly what was behind my comment. Sorry that I offended your tender sensibilities.

You guys are hilarious. If this is the worst you can pin on me, I'm doing just fine. Thanks for thinking of me though!
