I have always argued that the death penalty should be banned. My reasons had noting to do with the emotions regarding revenge or moral judgement. Instead it was based on the fact that our legal system makes a lot of mistakes. The number of exonerations from death row indicate that anyone who supports the death penalty supports letting the State murder some innocent people in order to also kill the guilty.

I have repeatedly commented about how many people's positions on "politics" were based on "culture" instead of actual "politics", and the death penalty is a perfect example. The same people who complain the most about how inefficient and untrustworthy the government is are the same ones want to give the government the power to kill people.

But now with Trump followers all claiming that the criminal justice system is a joke will they finally decide to eliminate the death penalty? I don't see how they can continue to make their arguments to support Trump and at the same time support the death penalty?

I assume they would just say that the death penalty is okay to kill leftist, but that not republican could ever be executed.
