The space between the bores, the bore on a 427/454 is 1/4" bigger.

Nice... is this what all machine shops do when they clean an engine before they do work on it?
I dropped my daughter's engine off last week... thinking of going back there because she wants to interview them... I've never spent any time in a machine shop... but they had some really cool stuff there. The couple who owned the machine shop, they had a valve that came from a massive cruise ship engine. The valve was as tall as I was, and the actual circumference of the valve was like 2 and a half feet... I couldn't believe it. Whatever that goes into... we should try to see if we can fit it in a Fiero.

Yes....and all the crap that stays in the oil and coolant passages of the block is why you need to thoroughly rinse that thing out with a water hose and then blow it out with compressed air when you get it back
If you happen to find a loose shadeball, throw it away. They're worthless.[This message has been edited by randye (edited 02-03-2024).]
