Same party, endorsed by the former president and the party increased its numbers in their legislature.
Same - same, just more of it.

In my opinion, this is a very bad sign. Not a surprise, but not good at all for Mexico or the western hemisphere.
Morena exists because PRI wasn't left enough.
Mexico is, and always has been a VERY corrupt place.

Mexican candidate assassinations hit grim record ahead of Sunday's election
quote | MEXICO CITY, May 31 (Reuters) - Mexico's election is now the bloodiest in its modern history after a candidate running for local office in central Puebla state was murdered on Friday at a political rally, taking the number of assassinated candidates to 37 ahead of Sunday's vote. |

How many of you were completely unaware of this?

Is there such a thing anymore - meaningful political discourse? How does one talk to an American hating Liberal that's bent on turning this great country into Venezuela or East Germany?

The stabilization of Mexico's economy is a good thing, it has been abysmal throughout my entire adult life. Seeing the inflationary period of the eighties was a huge eye opener for many.
But to me, crime is a bigger and more immediate problem. Here is an article from last week which directly compared the policies of each of the front runners: https://insightcrime.org/ne...kle-organized-crime/
I would have much preferred Galvez. That would have been a positive sign and step in the right direction.
