If approved by voters, Proposition 314 would make it a state crime to cross Arizona's border with Mexico outside of a legal port of entry. That’s already illegal under federal law, but the new measure would allow state and local law enforcement, including sheriffs, to arrest people that cross the border illegally.

I like the idea but, I question how much good it's going to do since I believe the state will have to turn the illegal border crossers over to the Feds who will then turn them loose (on us). The Border Patrol has not been allowed to follow the already established laws due to prevention by Biden.

This prop is on November's ballot, so by the time the law takes effect we will have a new president.

Would it be legal to shoot them in the ear as they come across?
(not that I would condone such action.)

Hopefully. We really can't go much longer with that office vacant of any real leadership.

I thought this was a story about a ruling regarding a state law conflicting with a federal law. But this was just a Maricopa County Judge ruling on a technical legislative drafting issue.

Sounds like a mess. Even when these types of laws get in the federal court system they are often dismissed or remanded due to technical issues instead of the substance of the issue.

If Arizona wants to spend millions of dollars keeping tens of thousands of illegal border crossers in jail then I am all in favor of that.
