They specify the pinion spline, so a custom lower steering shaft will be needed with the rack.

Agreed. But I see what they're driving at.

I think they just want to see if they have enough "stock" components on hand that they could use to assemble a rack that's "close".
It may be feasible to make a few custom parts for a rack, but not if every single part they already manufacture now is useless.

Agree.

I suspect they are gating the project. First step w/o investing any time or money is to get a very rough understanding of the length and type. If they don't have something already in production that could easily be adapted to this process, they likely won't need to ask any further questions, as it would be a complete custom rack with extensive R&D costs that they will likely avoid for such a small niche market for a single production year application.

has anyone been able to measure their racks yet? or have a rack they can measure?

I have a 84-87 rack. I need to disassemble it for the Rack Gear Length.
The Pillow Block mounted rack would be the best match for mounting purposes.

Anything ever happen with this?
Also. Pillow mount looks more like what we have.

I have one of the OEM experimental power steering racks that is not currently installed. If this would work for you, let me know what measurements you need and I should be able to get them when I am back in town early next week.
