The space frame itself is essentially the same as a GT or Formula. The body panels can even be swapped around between all of them.

Have fun!

Thank you.

Can a Formula be converted to a GT that easy?

no

It can be done, but I wouldn't call it easy. If you want a GT, find a GT.

X2. Its a big job and would require the removal and replacement of all panels w the GT stuff starting from the rear edge of the doors on back; Upper/lower quarter panels, facia, tail lights, quarter windows, air grills, deck lid etc.

Now that I understand the rust problems I'm not driving 5 hours one way to look at a Base with almost 300,000 miles.

If it is a Texas car, the chances of rust problems are diminished.....but that listing has other problems. You would need lots of photos to understand what the car really is....for example: A base Fiero never had a 2.8....and interiors were never black.

The VIN in that ad shows the car to be a base coupe. (8th digit "R" = a 2.5 4 cylinder.)

I didn't say that it was easy to convert a base car to a GT. I just said that the space frames were identical. Which they are. (FWIW, I added a fastback clip to my Formula. In my sig, below.)
The down side is that, no matter what it "looks like", the VIN is what the insurance company will call it, unless you have agreed value coverage.

I got more pictures, it's a base with I4 as mentioned at the start. I'll keep looking.
