What's the secret to keeping the seal under the rear window in place? (Page 2/2)

Ooops. Thanks for that tip Joe, I'll get back on my meds and do better next time. Is this 'seal' like the windshield molding?

It's one of those things that's there but you just don't see it until you have a problem with it, as I did with my 86. That was probably why I think I knew what the OP was talking about. I've pushed my strip back in place a number of times, but it just doesn't stay. Still held in place on both ends and droops in the middle.

Thank you for the replies! Olejoedad is correct - I was referring to the rubber molding that runs along the bottom of the rear window. It's pressed into the groove at the bottom of the rear window and has the "Christmas tree style push-on lace" that is supposed to hold it in place (but doesn't do a very good job of it). I'm sorry for not including a photo in my original post. Thank you Joe for the suggestion - I'll try using some weatherstrip adhesive in a few spots and on the ends. Hopefully that will hold it. I'm tired of meesing with this thing! It probably doesn't help that the Fiero Store ships it in a twisted wad. No matter how much I warmed it up to soften it, it still wanted to twist and not conform to the groove.

Pmbrunelle - the weatherstrip adhesive that you refer to - is it 3M or Permatex?

I recommend 3M Super Weatherstrip and Gasket Adhesive, 08001 this is a really nasty adhesive that will pretty much stick anything. GM used to use this stuff to secure the rear collector magnet in rear diffs. Use gloves if you have some.

I suggest looking for the sake of looking.

When I have done "exploratory observation" of girlfriends' bodies, I did not receive any objections.

I have used 3M 08008 on my front windshield molding in the spots it was popping out, and it worked. Permatex may work, but I have not tried theirs.

Thanks, but I don't drink milk.

Thanks again for the suggestion of the 3M Weatherstrip Adhesive. Got my hands on some, applied it as suggested, and the rubber molding has stayed in place for the past week. Much appreciate the help from the members of this forum!
