If you are not familiar with the details on how the Fiero ALDL works, then you may not be able to answer, but I appreciate the effort.
Thanks, Paul |

Romsk, I don't specifically know anyone but Raydar might have the codes. Also TopNotch is a possibility. He was a software writer and also when he had some problems with his 3800, he was using a dual oscilloscope for some diagnostic purposes.
You may not be able to contact TopNotch until he returns from the 40th. He started out today, had problems with the 3800 and had to return home and make a repair on his other Fiero in order to try to make it up there. You could try sending him a PM and ask if he has the codes for when he gets back.

buddycraigg,
wonk, wonk, wonk... too funny!
Yes, this is a very technical question that only a few in the universe can answer. But you did try, so there is nothing wrong with that.
Thanks, Paul

Fie Ro and fierofool,
Thanks for the info!
fierofool: That MPG chip may be exactly the clue I need. I am going to see if I can find a datasheet on it and see what data inputs its needs.
By the way, my Fiero ALDL Monitor has an MPG display that I dreamed up on my own. Just like that MPG chip, I integrate the Injector PW x 3 (3 pulse per Rev) based on how much they spray when on (which took a lot of math to work backwards since I don't have specs on the Injectors), per the RPM, per the 1.4... seconds per reported frame. Its not perfect but it is close. I get about 23 MPG on my display which is about what I get in actuality.
After I get this Normal Mode data understood, I am developing a Shifter Assistant for the Fiero. It uses RPM and VSS and the known gear train ratios to workout what gears are safe to shift into to prevent "Money Shifts". It even shows when the engine and transmission are at syncrho seed for Synchromesh Clutchless Shifting. It is an array of LEDs in the shape of the Shifter Pattern. I used programmable WS2812 LEDs so I can change their colors in real time. I am mounting it on my custom Hood Cluster that will have another Tach and warnings lights. It includes the standard instrument lights, plus Engine Fire and an Over Temperature light for each wheel. The design will posted on my webpage - hopefully this Autumn.

Fie Ro, Thanks for the info on the MPG chip. I found the data sheet but it is an off the shelf micro controller with MPG application code that is downloaded into it. So now I need to find out what code it uses and see if it offers any clues on what the Fiero may be spitting out. Paul

A simple MPG meter would be a vacuum gauge. The higher the vacuum level the better the mileage. It certainly won't be precise or record anything but the readings can be interpolated against actual measured mileage. I have a MPG meter in our Jeep and quite frankly I do not see much use for it. ------------------ " THE BLACK PARALYZER" -87GT 3800SC Series III engine, custom ZZP /Frozen Boost Intercooler setup, 3.4" Pulley, Northstar TB, LS1 MAF, 3" Spintech/Hedman Exhaust, P-log Manifold, Autolite 104's, MSD wires, Custom CAI, 4T65eHD w. custom axles, Champion Radiator, S10 Brake Booster, HP Tuners VCM Suite. Another could have been for the Fiero had it been allowed to continue.
