Cam -a-lot, didn't you see my reply regarding finding an axle? this was quick to get and practically a stock item and cost was about $100.
How much is a custom axle going to cost you? and how long will it take to get it?
Just trying to justify going in the direction you took?

Hello McGuiver. I was not able to find that axle. It appears to be discontinued. I would have been very happy to purchase an off the shelf axle- I also did send you a PM with some question but did not hear back. I was wondering if your passenger side was too long as a result of the trans swap?

Cam,
Sorry, I did not get your PM and I didn't have any problem getting that axle in the Spring after I grenaded it at an autocross event.
The right side axle has been fine.
I will check my parts supplier here in Vermont tomorrow on availability.

Try searching NAPA for NAPA for the left axle for 1996 Chevy Cavalier, it comes right up NCV 949052 available tomorrow.

Thanks for the advice. I did find a local axle shop that made custom axles for me. Driver side 28mm longer and passenger side 28mm shorter. So far so good- drove it yesterday.

If you needed a longer driver side, you may have to check your passenger side to make sure it is not too long. I am no expert , but 2 different transmission shops told me the same thing- that the bearing on the passenger side may take too much load if the shaft isn't able to flex enough during normal driving. Grab the passenger shaft when car is sitting on the ground or 4 post hoist and move it up and down to make sure it still has enough range of motion

I am surprised more people are not having this issue with F23 transmissions. Strange...

GM Manual said I should use a new axle nut instead of re-using old one. I did not have any so I re-used it. Hopefully won't be an issue

Update- installed custom length shafts and so far no problems

Driver side is 28mm longer, passenger side is 28mm shorter
