Marc... do you (or anyone else) have any thoughts on the trick of retarding the exhaust cam a few degrees? I've read quite a few things about it, and even seen some YouTube videos, but the information and opinions seem to vary enough to just be confusing.

You'll see a small bump with a few degrees of retard, a noticeable difference with about 6 deg of retard, and the LQ1 wails with a 13 deg retard above 4k BUT at with a proportional loss of low end drivability below 4k rpm. It's almost undrivable off idle and up to about 4k with 13 deg. Everyone I've spoke to who's degreed their cams have always gone 'back' to stock an marveled how much torque the engine has or rather 'had'. Never forget 'area under the curve' lol
I don't think Steven Snyder with his track prepped fiero/LQ1 has degreed his cams at all.
