also check the bottom plastic & metal parts...
If those are missing or damage then can pull down the front.

Now that you mention the support behind the front bumper cover… my GT had been in a wreck in its life, and of course, the repair work is very sub par. Fasteners missing everywhere, stuff missing here and there!
Among the unfastened was the already broken in several pieces front bumper absorber. It was held to the steel bumper by painters tape! A fine job!
