I confirm that I have absolutely no issues with starting!

Nope! Unbolted fuel rail, used a large screwdriver and rail popped out with injectors untouched!
The 30 years old Injectors came out like this!!

I'm going to replace them with new ones...either with ACCEL 150615 or SMP FJ111!

Hi!!

A few updates, now that winter is gone!!

Prepared and repainted all the parts I removed!

Changed injectors, installed fuel rail, reconnected everything and wired the battery to start the fuel pump!
Rail Pressure is @40psi and stays @40 now!!!!

That's a first good point compared to the initial situation!!

A few pics of the work in progress!
I'll let you know once eveything installed, and engine started!!

Nice, hopefully you fixed the problem. Constant fuel pressure is a good sign.

Work done!!
Idle no more fluctuating and stays at 1100!
Still a little bit high, but car runs great!
Pics of the engine with new gaskets, repainted plenum and valve covers!
New Accel injectors, new spark plugs, Rodney's vacuum lines...
Thanks again for your help!!

I wish you luck. That looks really good!
If you want to save yourself some hassle, going forward, you can remove the steel tubes that connect to either side of the throttle body. (It's a sealed passage. You will not create a vacuum leak.)
All they do is circulate coolant around the throttle body, to warm it up. Once you remove them, take a length of rubber hose and loop it around to both of the hose fittings on the thermostat housing. Or have the fittings removed and the holes welded closed.

Was this ever fully resolved? I'm having a VERY similar if not the same issue. I'm replacing the fuel filter next week since it's cheap and easy. Fuel pressure test came back promising. I haven't tested any sensors though. Will read through this again. I don't know how to check vacuum lines so I'll look into that.
