the problem you had with the paint by the window was a thing called bridging its when clear builds up on the tape. Whoever unmasked it should of watched for that and cut the bridging with a razor to prevent peeling also they may not of sanded the edges real good causing it not to adhere as well.

well, its looks like i need a painter. i took it back to him right away and pointed out the obvious 2 or 3 weeks ago. i'm thinking a couple of days or so and he will have it fixed. it was a monday now that i think about it and i said "just please have it done by friday" he said no prob.. needless to say it wasn't done and every time i called it was excuse after excuse. today i went but before i got out of the car i removed all accessories off of me(watch, keys, sunglassses, phone, etc). i went straight to the truck and looked it over. there had definitly been work done on most of the area's but it still looked like CRAP! his co-painter came over and said it was done, and i said, yea right. hedlights not touched(still pointed down even though truck never been wrecked) hood still down i can see gray has been painted inside the cracks but there is still white on very edge of fender all the way around. wheelwells barely started but not complted. paint sprayed around quarter glasses but still looks like CRAP. He starts to walk away and says briggs will have to take care of this. that moment briggs comes over and i say surely the trucks not done, he says it is, whats wrong? ok, for starters look at the headlamps and i mention to him the trucks never been wrecked and he starts talking about how much time he has in the truck and such. so i pipe in, what the hell does that have to do with anything, ITS NOT DONE RIGHT! few more things were said and then we were nose to nose bowed up. neither wanted the ramifications of swing first so thats pretty much where it ended. i'm thinking i'm on his property, deep in the country, and they have 3 generations of briggs there, that wouldn't help me when the cops come. he starts screaming i better get my truck of his property or he'll charge 14.00 a day. he says this a few times like he has me by the balls or something. i'm like well then give my my keys, i get them and drive off leaving my porsche there and his mouth drops. i drive accross the highway to my buds business and get a ride back, and thats that!
sorry for the language and the rambling. pics coming later.

Never let hillbillies paint your tuck The independants are usually a hell of a lot better than the chain places, but some of them are about as good as Maaco. Had you ever seen any of his previous work?

When I was in High School in the car club, we had our stock car painted by Brad at Craig's Body Shop, an independant out on the penninsula here. He did an awesome job. Then when my little brother backed the car into my mother's (then) brand new van, he repainted that better than new. The insurance company didn't list him as one of their prefered businesses, but we had seen his work before, and it wasn't the most expensive quote we'd recieved. He's also redone my sister's car twice (and actually it's on its way there now for the third time ) and it always looks like new, as good or better than factory. Whenever we go over there, we talk cars and he shows us some of the current projects, once he had a 77 Bandit Trans Am, and he showed us before pictures and we could see the 'after' work up close.

I guess my point is to check out their previous work and ask what their usual turnaround time is. I don't remember if you said you did or not? But a good body guy can be hard to find. And you did good by not accepting his crap work, if I was paying for that job, I wouldn't settle for anything less than factory quality (which isn't that great anyway). Sounds like he did the touchup with a rattlecan.

he's done all my work for about a 1.5 yrs now. never perfect but good enough for the money. maybe around 40-50 jobs. this one i expressed to him had to be insurance quality because it was my personal truck and i would never be selling it. he's already been paid in full so that sucks. i agree with the rattle can.
on a more pleasant note, look what i got today.

i had to pay dearly for them, because there was other people that had intrest in them but, its all good.

Alright, I said pics. coming well here they are:
I brought it straight to the shop the day I picked it up from the body shop because it sat so long at the body shop that the fuel pump went out. Heres its new resting place.

I gotta give some love to my Baby looking good with her skirt lifted up showing some skin. LOL

OK, here is his attempt to fix previous problem of an all white inner fender. If you look at the edge of the fender you can still see white in like splotches and a line down the fender. Pics kinda blurry cause I got too close I think.

A shot with the hood closed

The other side. you can see a line of white down the edge of the fender

with hood closed

example of mess inside of all 4 wheelwells

hopefuly the red stripe will cover this

example of quarter glass overspray & tape pulling up paint(this is all around the glass)
Greg Z AUG 16, 04:51 PM
nice bubble on the roof

another shot of same bubble

nice scratches on hood thanks to him

look on the hood, in the corner, right below the gray. can you see the touch up spot? remember this is a new paint job?

There is more but I'm sure you all get the idea!

This is how my picture of the pace car and the GMC looked while he had it. Hard to see but pic was perfect in a glass pic frame.

This is how I got it back!
