3800 swap fuel pump wireing (Page 1/1)
lowtrickry JUN 19, 10:19 AM
Replaceing my fuel pump for a higher volume pump, When removeing my old pump there was a black wire and a almost tanish wire going to the old pump. My new high flow pump came with a pig tail connecter with a ( red + ) and a ( black -) wire. Want to make sure I'm connecting the right wires.

Also can I connect them with heat shrink butt end connectors or will the gas eat them?

Black is ground and tan or grey is positive.

I have used the heat shrink tube covered butt crimp splices you can get from any auto parts store inside the tank for a number of years and have never had them deteriorate.

Putting in a 3800sc. Doing the fuel pump.

i've got an 84 duke. Both the wires to the pump are black, can i assume that the ground is soldered on to the tube, and the hot is up above?

Putting in this pump for my 3800sc swap: Napa FPN B0069E

The connector is like this:

Posting a question caused me to "blow up" the image to show my fuel pump electric connection. Now i see the + and the --. In doing so, i answered my own question.
