I replaced my motor mount yesterday because the old one was compressed and destroyed by oil. I notice I have a lot more vibration and sound in the cabin, particularly at idle. It does seem to be a little more responsive. Is this normal? I guess now I'm going to have to check all my loose interior pieces to keep out the rattles.

Hi, I noticed the same issue with my 84 2.5 Manual. I replaced my mount, and now the vibration is excessive, making the ride unacceptable. Did you find a resolution to this issue?

Perhaps your trans and or dogbone are also failing? Replacing a badly worn engine mount might worsen vibration from other mounts that were also damaged.

See my Cave, Engine Mounts
Many have liquid fill mount as OE. Others have them via replacements. Either case often are "dead."
Solid engine mounts for 4cyl will make you feel more vibration.------------------ Dr. Ian Malcolm: Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should. (Jurassic Park)
