Turn Signal Cancelling Cam (Page 1/3)

Can anyone confirm the part number is 83232? Dorman Help makes one but both Advance and AutoZone sites say it is not compatible with the Fiero.

Thanks,

I have no idea but This is what Dorman's website says. For an 87 anyways.

You're referring to the horn ring/turn signal cam. The white one is for tilt columns, the green for non-tilt. https://shop.advanceautopar...iate&c3nid=IR-27795# I know it says it won't fit a Fiero, but it does. I have two in use at the present time.

Yep...that's it. Yeah it says it won't fit. That's what I thought.

Thanks Charlie,

Digging on the forum via search yields 83232 as a usable cancel cam for a tilt column. It should be white. 83233 is the non-tilt green version. Not sure why the interchange doesn't list a fiero, perhaps because the horn contact plunger kit that Dorman makes, does NOT work on a fiero. The plunger and spring are shorter in this kit, and was more typical of the average Saginaw column. At least that is what I have made of it so far, since these pieces go hand-in-hand.
I had bought the cancel cam, thinking the metal contact broke free from it and would not contact the horn contact pin. Here, I discovered that I had installed the spring and plunger incorrectly

That is ironic Viperine ... because I was only buying the turn signal cancelling cam for the horn spring tower mounted on it that the plunger mounts into. I just used putty where the plastic tower broke off and it did the trick.

Thanks guys.

If you'd like, I will be cracking open Manda's yellow formula's column in the next few days to assess the damage from the theft attempt. I can compare what should be an OE cancel cam with the still-in-the-box Dorman tilt cancel cam. Should be able to verify it easily.
The Dorman part does come with a black extra ring that I don't recall seeing in previous column repairs, but it's basically a gasket and it slides right off.
My only concern, is did all fiero colums/steering wheels use the same setup? This will be a 4 spoke formula wheel...

I don't know about the 84, but I've used this part on an 85, 86, 87 and 88 with tilt. The 88 had a 4-spoke wheel, the others a 3-spoke but all were tilt column.
