I hooked my battery up backwards in my 1988 Fiero Formula (Page 1/5)

I accidentally hooked up my Battery backwards in my Fiero. I know I need to replace all the fuselinks. Does anyone else have an idea what else broke that I should check after I replace all 5 Fuselinks on my car?

Any help would be appreciated.

I hate it when that happens.

How long was it hooked up? Did you see any smoke?

A little bit not really, just 2 fuselinks were hot that i could tell in battery compartment etc. Luckily I pulled a wiring harness off a Fiero that was in the junkyard. I seem to have all the extra fuselinks except for a 12 amp one.

min or two. Like a dumbass I went to start the car too >.<

Things inside on cluster work still. I'm starting to think i fried the fuselink by the Alternater as well, along with Alternater.

The fuel pump may be unhappy too.

Most times Fuses and Fusible links won't blow for backward battery. Fuses May blow if something else dies and short out.

But ECM Alternator and many other parts can, often will, die for that. Worse if the key is turn on or acc.
Yes, Fuel pumps can die if turn on. Most Motors don't care but what they drive may fry fast spin backward.

You need to connect the battery right way then carefully check what is dead.
88 has cs130 alt is tougher but can die and might drain the battery so don't leave battery connected.
I would treat this like See my Cave, Battery Leaches to watch amp used w/ key off
DC Amp Clamp meters are easy for this but many people don't have them. Most clamps only read AC amps.
