Looking at parts car, no engine. HOW do I tell an 88 cradle from the others. (Page 1/2)

Considering buying an 88 parts car for the cradle, to do my swap, and keep the car running, but I don't have my 88 home to look at yet. How do I tell if this parts car with no engine has it's 88 cradle in it?
Pics anyone?

88 cradle with suspension and exhaust.
Sway bar mounted at rear, E-brake cables run through front of cradle.

Thanks for the reply, so that means the 84-87 cradles have a front of engine swaybar?

84-87 cradles have no sway bar.

88 L4 cradles have no sway bar.

88 V6 cradles have a rear-mounted sway bar.

I guess you could sort of say that. The sway bar from the factory for '84-'87 is mounted on the front suspension!

An '88 doesn't have rear lower control arms. Compare the picture below of an early model cradle (with an aftermarket rear sway bar) to the '88 cradle pictured above.

The 84-87 sway bar on a factory Fiero is also to the rear of the engine as well.

Imagine that said Fiero is parked on our little blue ball, then start walking rearwards, away from the engine. You may eventually encounter the sway bar again.

Mr Brunelle... you are complicating the issue.

If the cradle has A-Arms, it is an 84-87. If it has a multilink suspension, it is an 88.

The 88s are also solid mounted so there would not be any rubber or poly cradle bushings.

Lol, funny! Seeing that, I think the Ferrari kit car I am buying must not be an 88, or someone swapped in an older cradle. I have to go back and look at it.
Bummer....

And, thanks Patrick, for the pic, and everyone else for pitching in too.
