Anyone have a solution for wheels that do not have a raised center cap? Can I just shave the spindles down or is there a better solution?

First off, some pics of what you are talking about would help.....Second, shaving off the hubs would wreck/eliminate your bearings.....

The solution is to make sure the center bore size is at least 57.1mm.

I believe he’s referring to the dustcaps and axle stubs protruding out into the wheel, which prevents using a flat center cap.
I’m using 3d printed caps from a file posted on thingiverse. Not fantastic, but better than nothing.

I did modify the drawing slightly. With the original print, heat makes the tangs lose their grip after a little time. I added a groove to use some ss filler rod as a backup spring. The revision has been holding up great for over a year.

Thats exactly right. The axle stub protrudes too far for the dust cap to fit. There is quite a bit of thread (like 1 1/2") past the axle nut. I dont see how cutting 3/4 of the stub off would affect anything and I am willing to do it. I have read a few posts where people did this. I was wondering if anyone had a better solution, like where to purchase dust caps that have some depth to them. I will most likely cut a little off of the stub with a cutting disk. I think the issue is only on the rear wheels too. The hub boe is 73.1 and I have some hub rings to make them tight and eliminate vibration. Thanks for the info.
