Hi,
I am looking at the Engine & Rear Compartment wiring diagram for a 1987 with a 2.8L. There is a device on the diagram that is marked with a symbol the VRV. Inside the outline for it is says "SOLID STATE." It has two connections to the PCM, one connection to the TBI #2 fuse, and a ground. Can anyone identify this device and explain its purpose?
Thank you,
Lyle

That is your EGR >>Electronic<< control valve; You have the Vacuum valve that is mounted on the exhaust cross-over pipe, while the electronic control valve is on the right side of the engine (Front of the block above the water pump).

The electronic control valve controls the vacuum that actuates the actual EGR valve.
