4T65e-HD for LS4 swap (Page 1/1)

Guys, i am planning a LS4 swap in a 86 GT. I already have a 06 LS4 from a impala. I am seeing a few 4t65e-hd trans listed locally on marketplace.
these are the vehicles listed trans came out of:
2002 bonnevelle ssei
2007 grand prix
2004 grand prix

My question i need help with is, one do all of the 4t65e-hd trans have the location to mount the starter for the LS4?
and would one of them be better to use, or should i be looking for something else?
Thank you in advance.

Only the transmissions GM installed with LS4's have the LS4 starter pad.

What you want to do with the engine determines what a good transmission choice might be.

Thanks Will.
You are right about the transmission choice. I have been going back in forth in my head...
However I think my current plan is to keep the engine mostly stock for now. And find a 4t65e from a LS4 for a decent price, just to continue to move forward with this swap.
Then over the winter pull the engine and trans to rebuild the engine make some nice mods. and convert the to a manual.

Which from what I've gathered on here the F40 seems to be the common choice?

Don't get a tap shift transmission unless you get the tap shift TCM and extra wiring with paddles. The tap shift transmission has a different valve body inside.
