Brake light in dash illuminated permanently (Page 1/1)

My brake light in the dash (86 GT) is permanently illuminated. Even without a key. I disconnect the battery afraid it will drain.
I heard that could be some serious issue. My e-brake is not engaged. Is this a short in the circuit?

According to the service manual the light (as every other one in the dash) is only powered when the ignition is on. No lights should be on when the ignition is off.

However there is a quirk to that as with pretty much everything. Does it still light up if you pull out the gauges fuse?

what said above.
key off/out should = no brake light and most other bulbs on dash.

did anyone take the dash apart or otherwise fool w/ 2 plugs on back of dash?
If did, can short out the board on back w/ bent "pins" where plugs are.
if done that, take plugs out again, look thru windscreen or use mirror to look at board there plug go.

if has pin bent, very carefully bend back.
"super glue" may help for short term, many glues won't stick to "board" plastic.
