Interior is completely removed....what opportunities should I not miss? (Page 1/1)

Hey all. First fiero refresh, so I am picking the brain of this beautiful collective as much as I can. 1984 Sport.

I have my interior completely removed down to the frame and the wiring so I can clean, repair/restore, and replace anything necessary. What upgrades, fixes, or mods should I be doing now while everything is bare and out. Here is my list so far.

1. replace seat upholstery
2. replace seat frame rails and lugs (mine were completely rusted beyond recognition and had to be cut out)
3. repair small weak spots in floor pan
4. recoat floor pan with Por-15 (should I add any rubberized coating for sound deadening?)
5. replace speakers in dash and seats
6. replace speaker fabric
7. remove and replace all old (and moldy) jute
8. replace headliner
9. test all cluster panel lights (should I do an LED swap instead??)
10. polish cluster plastic
11. patch cracked rubber on carpet back
12. fully deep steam clean carpet (its otherwise in decent shape)

I am considering replacing the fabric on the back panel. Has anyone done this?

My dash corners are beat to hell—which seems pretty typical with the fieros. Is there a process to repair and recover the dash with new vinyl while I got it out or should I just go with the dash corners from the fiero store? I'd rather work on it while it is out and easy to access without the constraints of being in the cabin.

What else should I be considering other than replacing the odd broken connector here and there? Should I be checking any electrical wiring or connectors while they are all exposed? The steering column is also super exposed right now. I don't seem to have the column wobble/looseness that some have noticed. Is it still worth a tear down and re-tighten while it is so easy to access?

Install a BCM from a Camarobird that give you keyless entry, RAP and stuff.

If you are inclined toward power steering, now is the time to consider installing an EPS system from a Vue, or similar. So much easier to get to everything with the dash out. Not that expensive if you use pick and pull parts, and if you don't like it, just pull the fuse, and you'll be back to standard steering. Some future buyer might appreciate the difference too.

If you want sound deading just install a type of soundmat. With everything out it is very easy to do, just takes some time.

With the door panels off, you can apply a good sound deadening "rubber". I also like quite doors, so look at lubricating all moving parts and reinstalling isolation sleeves on the door latch rods.

The floor and rear bulkhead are great places to do sound deadening mat.
I would also replace the factory " B" pillar speakers with a really good set.
