Oil pump (Page 1/1) Lilchief AUG 28, 01:27 PM This is a little off subject. S10 swap. So here's the problem. 2.8 has a smaller diameter pick up tube than a 3.4. Should I use a stock 2.8 pump or a high volume pump. Supposedly the 3.4 has larger oil passages. The engine is going into a 87 S10 4x4 2.8. The oil pan is different than all others. Which pump should I use ? Thanks Rick Spadesluck AUG 28, 01:38 PM I put a high volume oil pump in my 2.8 (Fiero) and have not had any issues. If it were me and this is for a 4x4 that motor is going to be under a lot of load, in my mind a better oiling system makes sense.
