Drivers side Ebrake wont back off fully on its own when ebrake released (Page 1/1)

I replaced my drivers side rear caliper. Bled the brakes properly, brakes work great. However, the ebrake arm wont back off fully when released. The ebrake is adjusted properly and passenger side works fine. If I release the ebrake and reach through the wheel well and pull up (or backward) on the ebrake arm, it backs off fully. Caliper came with a new spring so I know its not that. Any ideas why this one side only wont back off all the way? I even loosened the ebrake to nearly full and it wont back off all the way, I have to pull up on the arm to get it to totally release. I know the ebrake is supposed to self adjust and I havent driven it more than 30 miles since replacing the caliper. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

What's actually preventing the return... the brake caliper itself, or the attached cable? Where's the drag?

With the parking brake on one of my Fieros, one side released easier than the other. I just shimmed the return spring on that side, and all is well.

I don’t know for sure. If I yank the cables or pull the arm, it comes up. Same if I pull the cables...

Well, you're the only one here who's going to be able to determine where exactly the resistance is occurring.

Brake cables especially Wheel cables have 3 main problems...
1. Core "freezes" w/ rust dirt etc inside the jacket.
2. Jacket breaks at the mounting end(s). Pull on jacket and watch both ends. Jacket pulls out of an end then cable is F'd.
3. Core literally freeze w/ "water" in winter.

Likely have 1 2 or both dragging on release.

Push caliper level a little to release core "button."
Remove button so can't load the level.
Push level down hard then carefully release pressure, level should move.

If that works likely need 2 wheel cables at minimum.
