'84 rear brake pad clips (Page 1/1)

I'm trying to rebuild the rear brake system a previous owner destroyed. Looks like there are two style clips for the caliper side pad, one is round and one is wire. I bought the wire clips but they seem kinda flimsy. Is there a trick to getting them to stay on the caliper? The boot wants to push them off. Are the round clips better? I have the piston with the small hole in the center and slots for the pads. Any tips are appreciated. Beer money is promised. Thanks.

wire type clip goes on old piston.
stamped SS clip goes w/ new type pistons w/ 4 cutouts to fit them.

SS clip won't fit old pistons but Wire clips might fit new type pistons.

You have to dig around RA etc to find wire clips. Most only carry SS clip as brake hardware kits.

Thanks, I got it all to fit. turns out I have one caliper with old piston and one caliper with new piston and the clips work on both, so you were correct. thanks again

This is a little late but the photo shows the AC Delco part number and the brake pad retainer clip for an 87' GT in case someone stumbles across this post.
