Aero nose VIN sticker (Page 1/1)

I finally bought a Le Bra for my 88 GT. The instructions say to place the 7" Velcro strips along the vertical edge of the aero nose piece. If I did this, the Velcro would cover the VIN label on the nose piece.

Is this a problem? How critical is it that you have the VIN label visible? Is this just REALLY important if your Fiero is a showroom condition collector car? I'm sure the adhesive on the Velcro would pull off the VIN sticker, if removed.

Your opinions please.

I suppose I could simply put Velcro UP TO the VIN label, but not cover it.

VIN tags may be randomly placed. My LeBra velcro wasn't on the tag. Place it on either side, right up to the tag. Being tucked into the crease, the bra probably won't come loose.

The tag does show that body panels are original and no accidents. To some they are very important, especially a collector or someone who wants originality. Mine has 177K and has been painted twice but I had the painter's protect the tags, solely because the body is unmolested.

VIN stickers are on all panels and more to meet NHTSA et al rules starting in 87 for anti theft.
In Some cases cops, state inspectors, etc. can look for them for several reasons.
Quick Example: Car is Totaled and fix then trying to get tittle and registration to drive. Many places will require special inspection w/ all major parts w/ matching # or Doc's for parts w/o them etc.

Replacement parts from GM etc have these but sticker say replacement part w/o number and doc's for buying them.
Used parts w/o stickers (like part came off 86 and order) or sticker have wrong number then have to provided receipt from junk yard etc.

If velco goes over them... simple cut/move body side layer to clear the sticker.
