Non Fiero related. can a series 3 3.8 SC be used as a Rear wheel drive engine ? ( using say a 97 camaro/firebird trans ???) working on a Sunbeam alpine body. Thanks

The later year F body cars had 3800 in them. They were RWD. According to Google, the Series II motor was used in 1996-2002 F body cars. There is a 98 Firebird in my local PnP that has a 3800. I've also seen a few F body intake manifolds put on the FWD motors used in Fiero swaps, so I assume they are the same engine.

I would suspect the most important detail to pay attention to would be the bellhousing bolt pattern; Transverse engines have one pattern, while longitudinal engines have a different pattern...But there are adapters- usually they are to adapt a longitudinal engine to fit the Transverse Fiero transmission, but the opposite would be workable....

Lou, When I had my '02 GTP with the Series lll S/C 3800, I was active on those forum boards. IIRC, discussions on the transverse vs. longitudinal variants focused more on the motor mount locations than bellhousing differences. BICBW.
