How low can a muffler hang? (Page 1/1)

I am rebuilding the exhaust on my 87 3800, and the tightest bend I could find puts my muffler hanging about 1-2 inches below the rear bar of the cradle. Is this going to be an issue? I don't want my muffler to get ripped off..

You should be able to use a tight radius donut to make a 180 bend.
The 3" exhaust can be as low as 3" radius (6" center-to-center), and 2-1/2" R for 2-1/2" pipe.

try www.frozenboost.com they have a huge selection of bends in common sizes and some really tight bends. In stainless steel, 2 thicknesses.

Wow! This is fantastic. I was just ordering off of summit and the options were very limited. Thanks!

The standard procedure here is to take the tightest U bend that can be found. In the middle of the bend cut out about 1/2" and weld ithe two pieces back together. That will provide very tight head pipe to muffler clearance.
