Oil pressure sender replaced (Page 1/1)

Replaced the oil pressure sender last night. The gauge, with the old sender, would read pretty normal and steady at around 60 (not accurate, I'm sure) while driving around. As the engine got hotter, it would drop to 40 at idle, and then start to shake, and do sudden drops to below zero, spiking back up to 60 if I jab the throttle. It didn't like to read anything lower than 40, before dropping way past 0. With the new sender, it barely lifts off the resting position at less than 0 when you start the engine cold, and I can make it twitch a little, but it never even achieves 0. When I unplug the sender with the engine running, the gauge goes to steady 60. What does this mean? New sender is bad, or the gauge is bad? The gauge at least acted somewhat normal with the old sender, but with the new sender, it registers no pressure. Suggestions?
