Brake caliper issues (Page 1/1)
Rjberner46 OCT 13, 09:04 PM
I recently purchased my first Fiero and I am in the process of changing my brake pads and when I went to put the calipers back on it was nearly impossible. I had to hammer the front's on and the rears are just as hard except the piston side pad keeps coming loose from the retention clip. I even purchased new calipers for the rear and am still having troubles. I also bought new rotors and they are the same thickness as the old ones. Am I doing something wrong here? I've changed brakes many times on other vehicles and have never had this issue. Any advice or insight is appreciated.

Thanks,

Bob

The Rear Pistons should retract so piston is < 5mm, 3/16in, high. Think Front are about same.
Side effect piston boots are flat too not "cone shape."

If not then pads won't clear the rotors.

See my Cave, Clamp Method notes and rest of section.
