Can the Crank Pully be removed without issue? (Page 1/1)
BitStream OCT 14, 02:05 PM
So I have my 1986 Fiero that has starting issues.

We have been working on it. In the process however, when changing out the battery, one of the post connectors fell into the engine compartment and somehow got in behind the crank pully between the pully and the engine block. for the life of me, I can't get the dam thing out.

I am just wondering... I have to replace the belt anyways, can I take that pully off to get the battery bolt out of there? Or am I looking at other issues.

Thanks.

Shouldn't be a problem. Just 4 bolts holding the pulley on.

Crank pully aka harmonic balancer, is one big bolt and needs a pully puller. I do not think the harmonic balancer can be removed while in the car without having the cradle dip down.

BitStream,

Are you sure you are referring to the correct pulley? I may be confused on what pulley you are referring to?

It's important to also mention the engine you're dealing with when asking for advice. Otherwise, you may receive incorrect/irrelevant information.

If your crank pulley looks like this, it comes off by removing the bolts holding it to a hub (Item #85)
