Stuttering (Page 1/1)

84 fiero it seems like it stutters when I accelerate the car, I also noticed my amp gauge goes the opposite way when I accelerate the car but when I start easing up on it,the gauge goes back to normal. I’ve checked the cap wires and spark plugs and they seem fine, any ideas?

Put an external volt meter on it, and take the rpm's up and down, and see what happens. Could be bad voltage regulator or gauge itself... The stuttering may be bad cap, and/or rotor (you can't tell by looking at them), or ICM...

Check + battery cable and wires to alt hitting things as engine moves as you hit the gas.
Check engine/trans mounts. Iffy mounts allow engine to move more pulling on wires etc.

Bad ignition wires or plugs can also cause a stutter when put under a load.
