3800 heater hose return confusion (Page 1/1)

A little confused on what I should be doing with the return heater hose on the 3800. I've dug though a bunch of threads that mention if you have a 87/88 the return hose connects to a T-piece with the return line on the passenger side. However, I have an '85.
So is the idea that I need to install a T-piece for the heater return to connect to the main return line? I'm also using a 3800 NA if that's of any relevance.

You can run your heater hose like the 88's with your 3800.

First pic is respectfully borrowed from a forum member showing the 88 connection. 2nd and 3rd pics are ideas of how to get there.
If you're using the 2.8 t-stat housing, the smaller port is the feed to the heater and the heater return goes to the tee shown in pic 1.
The unused port on the water pump will need to be plugged.
