Suspension tips and tricks? (Page 1/1)

Hey gang: At some point we need to replace shocks and struts. I have a 1986, 2M6 Notchie, and decided to replace shocks and struts. I am second owned and talked to original owner and he has never replaced suspension. so I bought KYB shocks and struts from Rock auto (love that site). I know I will need to take it for an alignment after, but have never replaced suspension before. Any tips or tricks to make the job easier?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

I would suggest getting cam bolts for the struts. They will make rear camber adjustment much easier.

Also, be prepared to replace most or all of the suspension bushings (including the engine cradle bushings). The rubber is 34 years old. It's probably crumbling into dust by now. And the bolts are probably rusted in place. Don't be surprised if you have to cut some of them, and replace with new ones.
