Lowering ball joints (Page 1/1)

I have Rodney Dickman lowering ball joints that I had a shop install when I replaced all of my bushings etc.
They tack welded them, but over time the passenger side one has come loose.
The weld is still attached well to the control arm but it has broken loose at the ball joint itself.
I don`t think it got enough penetration when being welded.
I pulled the rotor and shield off of the knuckle and there is about an inch facing the outside of arm and ball joint that is not welded,.
There aren`t many miles on these ball joints as it was just getting into summer and with no AC I wasn`t driving the car.
Should I just have someone put some more bead on it and be done?
My neighbor is a welder and he would probably know how to weld something that is heat sensitive.
I wouldn`t need to pull the control arm off as it`s fairly easy to get to.

If you trust your neighbor to do it I do not see a problem with it. If wanted it done correctly the old weld should probably come off with some grinding. Since it already broke once I would not fully trust to weld over it again. Grinding it down should not be all that difficult then just reweld it again. Call it a day.
