GT egr solenoid coil shell (Page 1/1)
Xenoblast DEC 04, 02:19 AM

I am getting code 32, so I took out my solenoid and started taking it apart. I am almost near the end, but this shell is impossible to get off. I have tried everything, which has caused some damage on the shell. I am wondering if I can just buy the shell with the coil somewhere else and splice the wiring, or if I have another option. Thanks.

Don't believe that repair parts for the EGR solenoid are available anywhere. New ones went away long ago. You can buy a tested used solenoid. They can be tested with a VOM. (volt ohm meter). For a short time they were available rebuilt but that too went away.

That might be possible but you would need to use a heat resistant material. The EGR solenoid is a replacement part and sooner or later most of them will burn out. I am looking into a replacement EGR solenoid that was used on another GM 2.8L/3.1 or similar vehicle. The Blazer/S-10/Suburban EGR solenoid should work.

You can get rebuilt ones. See

though if your local emissions people may or may not like one that looks different. I bought the rebuilt from Daniel and it fixed my issues. Wasn't cheap, but ..shrug.. California.
