And by the routing of the cables, it came from a front-wheel drive vehicle. Generally, we can tell an '84 Fiero 4-speed from the '85 and '86 case by two physical characteristics. The 84 will have a smooth case around the axle seals and it will have those two ears cast onto the case where your cables are attached. The '85 and '86 will not have the cable attachment points and it will have webbing around the area of the axle seal, as yours has.

So, you have a strange beast, but it definitely came out of a front-wheel drive vehicle. The shift levers on yours does indicate a 4-speed, though.

I'm familiar with the Getrag 5-speed and Isuzu 5-speed. It is neither of those. Just FYI.

the 4 speed trans was sold in lots of cars.....perhaps one of these was sold in Canada (Sunbird?)...and that may be what you are looking at.
