Ignition Coil Bracket 2.8L (Page 1/1)
nero DEC 23, 05:32 PM
Hi, I am finishing up cleaning up the engine bay and part of it was replacing an old aftermarket ignition coil that was installed on the trunk firewall. I bought the replacement coil but just discovered that the bracket for the stock location is long gone. Has anyone used something else to replace a missing bracket? or do I need to hunt for a replacement one?

Go over to the MALL and ask. You should have no trouble finding one.

Thanks, I will post in the MALL.
I live in the middle of nowhere so was also checking to see if there were any other alternatives short of making a bracket.

Or could make one out of most any scrap metal..

Note:
Make sure iron core is grounded. Stock HEI and many aftermarket coils need that to work right and not cause problems in rest of ignition.
Even some oil loaded metal case coils need same thing. Some "all plastic" units have one or more "rivets" in mounting holes maybe wired to a core in them.

Is a big problem w/ Coil on Cap HEI for V8 because many throw out ground pin/strap when replacing a coil.

Missing OE Coil may mean missing other parts... Like Fiero V6 Ignition should have heat shield to block IR from the exhaust.
