Anyone work on doors? Like, for pay? (Page 1/1)

My 88GT doors need new dew wipes, the pads that limit (it's too late to prevent) scratching the glass, and general alignment of the windows in the door. (Regarding the latter, there's a pretty good sized gap between the passenger side glass and the dew wipe when the glass is part way up.)

The last time I had the passenger door apart myself was ten years ago to replace a power mirror Bambi knocked off - no involvement with wipe, pads, or alignment. Since that time I paid a local body shop to replace a dead window motor - which they did and it works - but they did not replace the pressure pads and I noticed the part time gap between the glass and dew wipe gap afterwards.

I'd try to do the work myself, but
1) am put off by the drilling out old fasteners and replacing with screws routine. 'Visualize extended periods of doors open, propped up with wooden blocks, drilling, figuring out what to use to replace, obtaining, and trying; trial-and-error pad and alignment adjustments; getting special tool(s) for the Hidden Dew Wipe Screw, etc.
2) I'm 75 this year, three shoulder surgeries (partially successful), and back issues.

I drive the car once or twice a week but could leave it with someone within a few hours driving range of Bloomington, Indiana. Cheerfully willing to provide parts from Rodney or wherever.

Speaking of parts, do unscratched windows exist?

Anybody interested in a winter project for reasonable $ please contact me by text or call 812 219 8235, or email johntilford@comcast.net

Can't help you out with labor on dew wipes but some guys seems to be able to replace them quickly. Once the door panel is off, you can access the screws that hope the dew wipes in place. There is a video on You Tube where some guy did it in like 30 minutes.
