I just took off the thermostat housing on my '84 today to replace the gasket, and I will be replacing the water pump after as well. The inside of the thermostat housing and the block it is connected to is extremely corroded and rusty -
I've ran it for a collective about 30 minutes, it had been sitting for 24 years before that. Could this damage or lead to issues? No cooling issues whatsoever when I let it run. What should I do? Thank you.

I cleaned up a Duke thermostat housing like that in a plastic bucket using electrolysis (water + washing soda)
