Fuel Gauge pegged past empty (Page 1/1)

I have an 86 GT, and my fuel gauge is always way way past empty, even on a full tank. From my reading here on the forum, it's most likely a grounded wire. Am I right in assuming this, and if I am, how many hours would a mechanic spend working on it? I'd do it myself but I refuse to do any more electrical work on this car.

They work on stuff until it is fixed. If you want your mechanic to commit to how long it will take, it's going to be a high number.
