Source for the 1988 rear anti-sway bar 2 bolts, 6 lock nuts, and 8 bushings? (Page 1/1)

Took my 1988 GT to the local shop because of clicking/banging noises under the car. Guy put the car on the lift and showed me the bushings almost totally worn away – to the point the long threaded bolts were loose and flopping – between the rear anti-roll bar ends and the upper suspension arms on both sides. The bar itself seems OK. He tried to locate replacement bushings/bolts/lock nuts kits from NAPA and other suppliers without any luck. Each supplier said no anti-sway bars were even showing for the rear suspension on Fieros. I replied the 1988 rear suspension was redesigned and different from 1984 – 1987 Fieros.

What’s a good source for the 2 bolts, 6 lock nuts, and 8 bushings for the rear anti-sway bar (or anti-roll bar) on a 1988 Pontiac Fiero?

I just looked on Summit racing and they have a number of selections but here is a link to the AC/Delco set @ $15.99;

You could also go with the Rodney Dickman "Zero-lash" end links....I put those on the rear but still use soft rubber ones up front which improved turn-in a bit (They are more expensive though)

Here is a thread I did on how to improve handling by mounting the stabilizer bars a little different from stock;

cvxjet,
I'm looking at Rodney's "zero lash end links" now for 1988 rear stabilizer bar. I can handle the price but my concern is four more ball joints needing lubrication . . ? You just run them dry until they wear out?

I have been running them on the rear for approx' ten years- Haven't lubed them but they do come lubricated from RD......No squeaks- no noise (But my 'earing is going from years of workin' on jet airplanes and helos.......(Especially from being inside the back of an S-3 Viking when a metal smith starts riveting on the outside (Fun)....!!!!!!

I have them all around. They come lubricated from the factory and are fine for quite a while. However, the boots are nothing special and split open in a couple of years.
You'll need a weird thin 23mm wrench to hold the bodies while you tighten the nuts, though.

I used these from Rock Auto on my 88 during the rear suspension rebuild: ENERGY SUSPENSION 98164G Black; Adjust-A-Link End Link Set.

The "Adjustable" bit is just that the four bushings are not identical, two are longer than the other. I lined it up with the old part to figure out which bushing orientation worked, and put it on. Bolts seem a tad too long, and could probably be trimmed. I didn't bother, though.

Just ordered the Rock Auto's. Thank you all, Fieroistas!

I put these on my 88GT and it transformed the handling. Worth every penny.
