Auto Gear Shifter Light Bulb Socket Repairable or Source for Replacements? (Page 1/1)
reinhart FEB 15, 12:44 PM
Got a few bulb sockets that have broken off tabs. The main areas are the shifter surround and the cigarette lighter areas.

The socket that goes in the auto transmission gear selector is my biggest concern right now. The ash tray sockets have also have missing tabs and fall right back out.

Any one come up with a good way to repair the sockets? Super glue would hold them in but would like to be able to remove them esp the auto trans gear light socket.

Also are they available as replacements?

Thanks. Those look like the ones for the ash trays....The transmission gear light socket looks different. Got a source for that one?

I thought all 3 were the same. Maybe someone has an idea on that.

for the gauges socket:

But you should be able to find them at most auto parts stores. You are looking for the 2933 lamp holder.

I just go to a local pick-your-parts and grab a handful from other cars - they are all the same, but you have to look at the older cars, the newer cars use LED or a different type of bulb, but anything from the 80's will have them and even into the 90's.

Year of car.

Some early years list AT shift bulb as 194. Others are 70.

194 is same Watts as 70.

I would find dimmer bulb. Console Light have nasty habit bounce off windshield and be annoying or worse at night.
I used 73 or 74 and even they are annoying. blown again and didn't replace in 15+ years.

Hi I'm looking for the plastic SOCKET not the bulbs. I especially need the gear selector socket that lights up with P R N D 2 1. Anyone got a spare good used one if unavailable new?

Other sockets for 70 size bulbs are likely cooked. You have to find very low mile car before finding a good one.

Try digikey etc or web search for sockets for T-1 3/4 wedge base bulbs.
But Some "store" only sells sockets in 10 to 100 count packs.

Maybe this... Found on google: T-1 3/4 wedge base socket and just looked at images. Ashtrays likely is same.

If 194 may have pigtail for them too.
