Hi All!!!!!
So i have 2 pre 88 front ends complete sitting on the ground. I was about to pull them down to basic components and realized the jack under the lower control arm trick will not work here. My 2 spring compressors are way too big to fit in there... any ideas? Id like not to die or kill anyone near by. THX

I picked up a spare crossmember when I did my front-end rebuild (I also shortened the bump-stops)....In the JY I had my buddy stand on the cross member while I un-did the nut on the lower BJ.....Then slowly let up on it- The spring actually let most of the pressure off, then it was stuck in the groove on the lower A-arm...Just pried it off the A-arm and almost no tension.
I have used chains and spring compressors on a lot of vehicles but they are hard to use on the Fiero....Also, they do LEND spring compressors at O'Reilly's

Yeah it was less tension than i expected. I just did this on an 88 cross member where the shock holds the tension. I cut through the shock while standing on the cross member and it bucked me really hard. Since this was more up close and personal i was not digging it.

Ha ha ha, I remember doing this. The things we do for our cars, I almost lost an arm,....not a joke..... working on a Fiero project. Please be safe out there. I seem to remember that I used a floor jack and chains to compress the springs? Or maybe I used a cheap spring compressor that did not have enough travel to do the job? Maybe both? Either way, I would DEFINITELY do it differently now than I did it 20 years ago.
