Fuel pump issues (Page 1/1)

Recently, my fuel pump quit. I thought, OK, I will have to make time to pull the tank and replace the fuel pump. However, the issue turned out to be a loose connection ant the tank cover. I took the loose wire and recontoured it with some plyers and now it works just fine. My question is has anyone seen this failure mode? The wire was completely disconnected which caused the fuel pump not to work. I don/t see anything I can do other than cut off the connector and solder the wire to the tab on the fuel tank cover. This seems a bit extreme however.

Any thoughts?

A picture or two of what you're describing would help a lot.
