Oil leak after oil change (Page 1/1)

Hello I have a oil leak question. I recently changed the oil on my 87 GT auto because I was having oil pressure issue during idle low oil pressure. I changed the oil to Lucas classic car 10/30 with high zinc I also replaced the oil pressure sensor with an AC delco. I have an oil leak now under the car which seems to be under the oil sensor. What should I do? This is my first Fiero so I am learning. The valve cover gasket were replaced at Fiero factory as well.

The 84-87 oil pressure sensor is excessively complicated. Many folks relocate it and use the '88 style sensor, much smaller/easier to get to.

Since you've just dropped coin on the new sensor, you may not want to change out everything. Leak could be the sender be leaking where it goes into the brass tube, the brass tube could be leaking where it goes into the block, or god forbid, the brass tube may be cracked.

See the Ogre's Cave page @ http://web.archive.org/web/...rocave/oilsender.htm

specifically the TSB link at the top. That has some pictures that may be of help to you.

I think you already answered your question. You only did two things. Assuming you tightened the drain plug and filter (check them), "I also replaced the oil pressure sensor with an AC delco" is your answer. That's probably where your leak is...double check all the lines and fittings.

Thanks for the help guys it seems it was the new sensor I put in. Pressure was good took her for a 40 mile ride yesterday and all seems okay now.

Are you saying the sensor was bad (leaking despite being tight) or you didn't tighten it up enough and it was leaking around the threads?

So... did it spontaneously heal or what?

Ok so no it did not fix itself. The leak is gone I removed the Ac Delco sensor and replaced it with the ASD. Problem went away and returned after about 100 miles. What should I do next? Buy another AC Delco sensor? It kept the pressure a few ticks below 40 and no oil pressure light? How difficult is the 1988 conversion? Does anyone have a video?
