Exhaust manifold bolt-stud question. (Page 1/1)
Mr Badwrench APR 26, 08:23 AM
Hi all- (85 GT- v6). the rear exhaust manifold has 4 bolts and 2 long studs. I dont remember witch port the 2 long studs go to. (left, center or passenger side.) Anyone have any idea?
thanks,
Bill

Correction: I meant the front exhaust manifold not the rear.

All threaded holes are the same for the manifold, so any could go anywhere. Id put the bolts on the right side of the engine where the ac compressor or alternator are tho, just because of clearance.

Look for which bolt holes have additional things mounted on them such as heat shields, those would likley be the studs. I know the trunk side has studs for the heat shield by the alternator in mine.

As i recall there's supposed to be 3 studs. They only hold the heat shield. 1 on the top at each end and one bottom center. I swapped out to all studs as you can see in my 2gts 1 spot thread
